The contest was so much fun for both the kids and teachers alike while it reflected the fact that the attires can reflect the character of the people who wear them. Children who wore the attires of Subhash Chandra Bose and Krishna’s Gopis were the sparkling examples for it as the outfits just transformed them into a different person in a particular time period. The child who wore the Gopi costume brought the audience back to the ancient times of Krishna. The child who dressed in the Subhash Chandra Bose way reminded the audience of the great Indian hero in a very subtle way. These outfits quickly triggered the fond memories and images attached with the legendary characters they represented. There were teachers and care takers to organize the event to its peak perfection. Children represented almost every state through their outfits, ranging from various kinds of south Indian saris to North Indian Kurtas and Dhothis.

Children with their sincere participation and their beautiful traditional outfits gave new dimension to the contest. This contest also reflected the beauty of traditional Indian attires, thanks to the hard work of parents, children and teachers. Each design reflected the times they were originated and urged a chatoyant perspective of fashion. On the whole, the Fancy dress contest was a reminiscence of Indian culture and fashion of ancient times. It reminded us the richness of Indian designs which are brilliantly complex in their structure. Kashmiri traditional outfit was one of the glittering entries in the contest while Kurta and Pajama also stole the show.

Most kids know that fire is dangerous and scary. However, the topic of fire safety is something that they should never be frightened of. As a matter of fact, kids should be made to realize the importance of this subject matter and topics like prevention of fires, risks, injuries, and fatalities should be clearly explained. Visiting fire station is not only a thrilling experience but the kids end up gaining a lot of firsthand knowledge about fire fighters. They get to see a real life demonstration of the fire brigade -how it works, the ladder-how a fighter climbs it to rescue people from high building, how the fire brigade bell is used to make way for the water tanker to rush on a fire spot. These are all practical learning which remains with the child throughout his or her life. Making safety education fun and enjoyable can help significantly in instilling valuable lessons in children more effectively.

This can also help to ensure that they do not develop too much fear of fire, not to the extent where they freeze during an actual emergency situation. Having the confidence and knowledge on fire safety can make it easier for them to do the right thing during a fire breakout. It is absolutely certain that children tend to learn better about a subject from a field trip than what they generally do through textbooks. There’s no alternative to hands on experience and the true retentive learning that this brings

Vkids School -Self Introduction Competition

VKIDS organized a ‘Self-introduction competition’ for Pre School, Play School and Day care in July 2012.  The event proved that the pre primary kids can very well introduce themselves to the world.

Introducing oneself to the world is an art as the saying goes “in the first part of your life convince yourself that you are the best because rest of your life will go in convincing others that you are the best.”  The exposure of this kind will boost the confidence of children and help them to be more social. Self esteem is one of the most essential factors in the character building of children as it gives a protection wall for the child minds to defend psychological attacks such as bullying.

A confident mind leads one to great success even when the tides are against them. VKIDS identified and understood the need for proper character building and thus the contest happened. Children felt more brave and confident after they got on the stage and introduced themselves to an audience. There are many among us, suffering from confidence issues such as stage fright and public speaking fear. VKIDS believe that contests of this kind are a cure for such issues which often come as stumbling blocks in one’s career. We hope to build a confident new generation for India.
