Parents as usual are trying to figure out summer activities for keeping their kids engaged. It is apparently a real good idea and a step in the right direction for parents. Health experts have always been of the view to keep your kids from being couch potatoes hooked to the tablet or play station or TV and rather spend time outdoors and even if its indoors they are engaged into activities, worthwhile. Their statistics say that in USA over 5000 kindergarteners and first graders doubled their weight during summer vacations. As per experts it is important for kids to exercise for at least 60 minutes daily.

So, here are a few tips on who you can keep your kids engages into indoor and outdoor activities.

Toys in Sight – Keep their toys like hoola hoop, cycle, ball well in sight so that kids can view and pick them up easily. This idea is a definite hit for most of the times.

Play with your Kids – After a Sunday lunch or a early dinner don’t sit and watch TV together instead go out for a stroll, play outside with the dog or have a badminton session of half n hour before you head to bed.

Activities as Rewards – You can keep certain activities that interest your kids as rewards. For example you can tell your child that they could get an extra hour to play their favourite sport against something else.

Invite Friends – If friends are around kids tend to get more indulged into what they are doing. So, try to invite some friends with their kids at home and plan some outdoor play together or indoor games like carrom, chess and more.

Adventure Sports – Adventures are a definite yes, but adult supervision is a must. So, go to water parks or amusement parks, or cycling, hiking or surfing but be alert and super surveilant on your kids when indulging into such activities.

Well, keeping your kids engaged can help you find yourself as well and get you an opportunity to spend quality time with them while exercising your body. So, this summer have a cooler plan, a plan that not only keeps you kids active but even strengthens your family bond while giving rewarding you with sweet memories for life.

This is a question being asked by many parents on a day-to-day basis. Setting a right time for a child is an arduous task because each child differs for the others in terms of attitude and temperament.
The various points to note about when you send your child to preschool are as follows-
1) Why should he/she be sent to preschool?
2) Does he/she have the right kind of stamina to follow playschool routine?
3) Is he/she used to have a routine at home?
4) Is he/she ready to participate in group fun activities?
5) Can he/she handle fun projects on his/her own?
6) Has he spent time away from his/her parents?
7) Is the child independent?
If the answer to these questions is true to more than 4 of the above questions, then we believe that it is the right time to send the child to preschool.
If the child is shy or introvert, it is better to send the child to play-school only after the age of two. If the child interacts with his peers in a right perspective, he may be sent earlier. Playschools perform according to a routine and it is important that the child confirms to a set of rules of conduct. If the child is playful and refuses to conform to a set of everyday rules then he may be sent a little later than the other kids. The environment of the play-school has to be safe, secure and stimulating for the child to show an active interest. The play-school should develop a child’s unique talents and gifts so as to develop him into an all-round individual. An open door policy is also important when it comes to sending the child to play-school.
So to conclude the nature of the child whether be it shy or extrovert or independent, is the main guiding feature when it comes to finding the right time of sending the kid to school. A very important suggestion to parents is that they should take the advice of older parents who have been in a similar position before. The older parents will give appropriate feelers so as to correctly gauge the right time to send the child to playschool.

The brilliant bond of words, their meaning and the way it is presented makes a recitation flawless. V KIDS organized a recitation competition on 23rd September for the little stars of Nursery.  A few parents and teachers attended the program and the general feedback was very encouraging.  One of the pre primary class rooms is used as the venue for the competition. Many students performed with a lot of excitement and their sincerity for the content they explained was really visible in their performance. Parents opined that such events really encourage children to grow personally and that it improves their confidence level too.   Prizes are awarded for the best performance in the final session.

Onam is a national festival for India and it is traditionally celebrated, in the name and glory of King ‘Mahabali’ who ruled Kerala state and made the place very prosperous, both morally and materialistically. VKIDS celebrated Onam festival on 13 Septermber 2013 in the school premises. Children were excited beyond imagination to participate in this celebration as it gives them a challenge to make a beautiful flower carpet. Making a flower carpet is a traditional way of celebrating Onam festival. The myth is that Mahabali will visit the places where people celebrate with flower carpet and will bless them.  First, they made various paintings of flower carpet and with the chosen ones; they started putting the design on the floor and then flowers in it. A few parents, teachers and Principal helped them to achieve a wonderfully beautiful flower carpet
